9:00 AM Friday morning, April 4th 2008, on the U.S. West Coast, is quickly approaching — so… here I am with a new Prompt! This week’s, and the twenty ninth Writer’s Island prompt comes to us from one of our fine Islanders, Marilyn Maciel — and it is: “Lost Highway”. Thank you Marilyn! Anyone else have a prompt idea?
That two word phrase conjures so many images for me, but I don’t want to sway your take on this week’s prompt. On what journey does “Lost Highway” send your imagination? Please share with us where this prompt leads you!
••> This week we turn to the new movie release, Leatherheads, as the source of our seventh Matinee Muse prompt — “Rivals”. See if you can tackle this one.

The Matinee Muse prompts are now a regular weekly offering. So please enjoy! <••
Feel free to use either, or both, of this week’s prompts — or use neither if you so choose. Whatever moves your soul this week is what we all want to read.
So, create your poem, prose, short story, essay, commentary, or whatever — and post it on your blog. Feel free to include recordings of you reading your work — and any photo, artwork, or graphic representation you feel is relevant.
When you have finished your piece, please return here to this post and place your link to your work as a comment — and as you know, just the link, not the piece.
Please realize there is no need to rush, this post will be open to receive your links for the entire week, leading up to the next prompt.
May your muse, this week and every week, never leave you lost, but rather, steer you to write your best — to write your heart! We can’t wait to see what you have for us…

Here’s an older one that sort of covers both prompts… I’ll try to be back later with a new one. Shouldn’t be hard, given what I write about!

I’m second! And I thought I was late this week. Can’t have taken the turn onto this highway, after all

“Lost Highway,” as written by Leon Payne and performed by Hank Williams is easily one of my top ten all time favorite songs. I thought that before we got too far down the road you might be interested in reviewing this two minute thirty second American masterpiece.

You can hear Hank on YouTube here, although the still picture is totally out of focus: Lost Highway

Hello Islanders?
Do you still remember your first real bestfriend?
I remember mine with sadness, for my memories of my first real bestfriend bring me back to
The Narrowed Road
We lost the highway we were about to build together as friends early on. It is sad.
I wish you well.

this was a one-act play i wrote a couple of years back of two sisters (rivals) at the cusp of crossing over to their truths….and it is filled with the multiple layers of truths, lies, religion and family that fills a life….

An inspiration to participate, using this particular prompt doesn’t seem to be the order of the day!
I would like to suggest a few prompt ideas though:
bleeding
halcyon
autumn leaves
black and white
Hope one or more of these will be helpful as an upcoming prompt.
