My wife and I just went to see “National Treasure – Book of Secrets”, and while it will never be considered a significant piece of cinematic history — it was great fun! It also put me in mind of what would be an excellent prompt for this week.
So, in the spirit of Ben Franklin Gates, Captain Jack Sparrow, and Indiana Jones (to be seen this summer in “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”) — the seventeenth prompt here on Writer’s Island is: “Treasure”.
What treasure (physical or metaphysical) might you be looking for, or have found, or maybe lost? Perhaps tell us what you treasure most in life — treasured family member(s), treasured friend(s), treasured memory, treasured possession… you can see where I’m leading.
Maybe you can take us on a breathtaking, pulse-pounding, imaginary (or real) treasure hunt! Share with us any bit of creative writing the prompt “Treasure” brings to mind. Or create for us a different piece of writing, if “Treasure” doesn’t stir you.
If you’re new to the island, the details for how to become an islander can be found in the right sidebar. To our regular islanders, you know how to navigate the surf — and welcome back!
Everyone, please return here Tuesday, January 15th. A new post will open at 12:01 AM, U.S. East Coast time on that day — for you to place, at your convenience, the link to the piece you’ve written… and which you have posted on your site.
Until then, may your search be fruitful — and may your muse be kind!
(forgive me, I’m a fan)
