PROMPT: “Fork in the Road”

It’s 12:01 AM Saturday morning, January 19th, 2008, on the U.S. east coast — so it’s time!

This week’s prompt is “Fork in the Road”, and I’m not referring to the eating utensil — unless that is what you’d like to write about. 😉

You could also interpret the prompt as a “Crossroad”. It carries a like meaning, and provides essentially the same inspiration. A simple decision made at a ‘fork in the road’, or a ‘crossroad’, can lead you to a significantly different destination.

When was the last time you came to a place of critical decision in your life? How did you handle it? Did you make the correct choice, or something you’ve come to regret? Maybe there is a big decision that is just ahead for you, or someone you care about?

Perhaps you prefer to simply let this prompt inspire a bit of creative writing, unrelated to anything in your life — or even this world?

Whatever moves you, that’s what we all want to read.

If you’re new to the island, the details for how to become an islander can be found in the right sidebar. To our regular islanders, you know how to navigate the surf — and welcome back!

Everyone, please return here Tuesday, January 22nd. A new post will open at 12:01 AM, U.S. East Coast time on that day — for you to place, at your convenience, the link to the piece you’ve written… and which you have posted on your site.

Until then, may your path serve you well — and may your muse be kind!
