Welcome to week four (4) of the re-opening of Writer’s Island. This week will mark the first month back on the Island. It has been great seeing so many of our Islanders, former and new, coming ashore to share their writing. This is a nice sized island, and we have plenty of beaches — so bring your friends, and let’s crank up this “beach parteee” even further!
Remember, new prompt(s) every Saturday, and to make it easy this time around, when what you’ve written is ready to read by the other Islanders, just post your link right here at the bottom of this post — no waiting, no looking for a different place to post your link, and you can leave a comment as a part of your posted link. You can now also reply directly to any other comment.
β’β’> The 4th re-opening celebration prompt is: IMAGINARY FRIEND… Pretend you are stranded on a deserted island, or lost in a jungle, or marooned on a planet — and you are alone, so to pass the time, you ‘create’ a friend. Or perhaps you imagine what the ideal friend might be like in your life as it is right now, or how you might be the ideal friend — maybe you already have a friend who is so amazing, they defy imagination. Tell us in your words (poem, prose, flash fiction) the why, who, what, where, when, or how regarding that friend/friendship — whatever moves you to write. Maybe it includes a visual response? It’s your thing — so do wha’cha wanna…
Relax, respond to the prompt when you’re ready — or just leave a comment to say hi! Again, welcome back to the the Island. I’m going to check out some of the Island’s orchids. Go have yourself a nice cool drink of choice, and let’s all bask in this tropical beauty!!! π
I could go in many different directions with this and I think maybe I will
Thanks
Pamela
Go for it Pamela… π
This one is based on reality: A MAN NEEDS A DOG
Nothing stranger than reality Stan, or more interesting at times… π
An unusual prompt! Love the possibilities!

Happy weekend islanders!
I was hoping this prompt might tap into some reserve or trappings of childhood memory. Happy weekend to you Gemma, and thank you for sharing… π
You’ll find mine here:
Enjoy.
Enjoy the beach Anthony… π
I Want An Imaginary Friend
Welcome to the Island D, nice to see new faces… π
I like the way you wish.
This is my first go at this prompt, a true story, but out and out doggerel. http://vivinfrance.wordpress.com
Something a bit more profound is germinating in my head (I hope it will emerge as more than a seedling)
If the new seeds take root Viv, come back and share, never too many poems to share… π
My imaginary friend, without whom, I may not have survived childhood: Trouble Comes to Dry Gulch
Perhaps an unpopular take on the idea.

Yo B, sumthin’ kicked the first comment into the spam can? but I pulled it out… π
A pretty poetic piece of prose! I loved it, and also the idea of a home for outgrown imaginary friends.
ViV
I’ve written about a fairy tale friend.
fairy stardust
Fairies are familiar with the Island Irene, they have a community up in the forest – they love to share tales… π
Here is my poem
Thanks for the prompt

Thank you Pamela… π
Here’s my second attempt, provoked by a visit to one of my favourite museums: The MusΓ©e Christian Dior, which is in the house and garden where he spent his childhood in Granville, Basse Normandie, France.

Bringing a bit of fashion to the Island are we Viv — very cool… π
A little something out of the blue. π
Thank you Kitty… π

Great poem: a refreshing breath of a different life.
ViV
It is nice to see spouses inspiring spouses, thanks for sharing Marianne… π

Thanks for wishes Kathy, you have a great week also… π
My imaginary friend meditation is
the last golden girl considers the nature of friendship
Barbara, nice to have a golden girl on the beach… π
Well, I didn’t think I had an imaginary friend until I ruminated on this prompt for a while. What sad and yet enlightening memories…thanks. http://lindagoin.com/2010/invisible-support-for-an-emotional-amputee.html
Memories often are both Linda — that is what makes them precious… π
Great prompt…..after spend all evening with my guys on Lost. I think my feet have sand between my toes…
my poem
Melanie
We don’t want you lost on the Island, so pull up a beach chair, and make yourself comfortable Melanie… π
Here’s what washed a Shore for me:
Well let’s take a look at it De… π
I strayed a little from the idea of “imaginary friend”, and went more in the direction of “eventual friend”….
– Dina
There are more directions on the Island than sands on the beach Dina… π
Here’s my offering for this week…more walks on the dark side.
Wind
-Nicole
Nicole – After the darkness there is the light — sun light on the beach… π
I have overcome my initial lack of motivation for this prompt. Red Room.
Ron, your red room refused to let me leave a comment. I tried to create a new account, using my usual pseudonym and password, but it told me that I
already had an account but denied the password!
And now, I’ve forgotten what I was going to say…
Oh yes, something about your alter ego.
ViV
Couldn’t get into Ron’s Red Room Viv — wonder what you missed?… π
Ron — thanks for overcoming, and sharing… π
my brain is slow as sap in winter
but here we are at last =)

Slow as sap is fine Lucy, that is why the “open for posting” light stays on all week here at Writer’s Island… π
I’m rather late coming to the party, but mine is at http://thelaughinghousewife.wordpress.com
There is no “late” Tilly, the beach party goes on 24/7 here on the Island — welcome… π
Here we go, a day before the deadline!
Dark Nights & Gray Days
http://michaelsfishbowl.wordpress.com/2010/05/28/dark-nights-gray-days/
Michael, welcome to Writer’s Island, and there is no deadline for posting a response to any prompt — only a publication day and time for the new prompts… π
