Welcome to Writer’s Island.
We are pleased to now be in our fifth (5th) year here on the Island, providing writing prompts. New prompt(s) are posted every Saturday at 12:01 AM, U.S. East Coast Time. Consider the prompt in depth, then let inspiration carry you.
When you feel what you’ve written is ready to be read by the other Islanders, just post your link right here in the comments section at the bottom of this post. Please leave whatever expanded comment you wish as a part of your posted link. You can also reply directly to any other comment.
••> The eighth prompt for 2011 is “FORETELL”.
Look into the future and tell us what you see… • maybe something light and humorous, or a warning to heed • perhaps about the movies, who will win the Oscars • what sports teams will be big winners • who will be the next person of fame (or infamy) to make the news, and why • what big world event do you see unfolding • you might see something very personal you want to share • is there an omen you portend • start a rumor • make a prediction • open our eyes • shock us • make us smile • look over that horizon and use this opportunity to inform us, alert us, or to just have fun • be poetic, prosaic, prophetic • proffer fact or create fantasy — let the word foretell spark your muse… or choose to go in your own direction with your piece this week. Just let yourself go with whatever it is that moves you to write.
Relax, respond to the prompt when you’re ready — or just leave a comment to say hi! As always, welcome to the the Island!!! 😉
I’m first!? I could not foretell such a thing. 🙂

Had to sleep on this prompt. I see these eyes once every few weeks and they haunt me the rest of the day.

This combined the Sunday Scribblings Food prompt with that good old foretelling of certain doom… don’t worry, I didn’t poison anyone! Amy
