Hello Islanders!
It’s Friday, November 23rd. For me, it is the morning after Thanksgiving. A letter I received this past week has me readying to leave home here shortly, for an unexpected visit with someone in need. I should return by the middle of next week.
My receipt of this unexpected letter seemed to make only one prompt the logical prompt for this week — that prompt being, “The Letter”.
Think back on letters you might have received, or sent, and find one that was memorable, maybe for it’s warmth, or joy, or sadness — perhaps it changed your, or someone else’s life forever… for the better or for the worse? Or, this may be a letter you realize you should write, or one you wish you’d receive — maybe its a fantasy letter you want to tell us about?
Even if it’s something altogether different you want to share — whatever moves you, please write it, post it, and link it — we would all love to know what’s on your ‘writer’s mind’.
Given my unexpected circumstances — procedures will need to be modified this week here on Writers Island. This early single post will serve to both introduce this week’s prompt, and act as the post to which you submit, in the ‘comments’ section, your link to the piece you will write, and post on your blog.
Remember, post only the link to your work here — not the piece itself… and please make certain your link is accurate.
If you’re new, welcome ashore! More details of ‘How To Be An Islander’ are posted in the sidebar. If you’ve returned, a warm welcome back!
Writers Island belongs to us all. Please let us know what you want and need on the island to make it an enjoyable and nurturing experience.
OK — it’s time to tell us about “The Letter”, or whatever other treat you may have for us? We’re all eager to discover! So let’s everyone get comfortable here on the island, and share our work.
OPEN YOUR LETTERS — fellow islanders!
…and I hope your holidays will be blessed and joyful throughout!

I hope everything turns out all right Rob. I am going to post a link to a story I wrote a year ago. It’s called ‘The Letter” and it remains my favorite piece of writing and something I plan on turning into my next novel.

The Letter (Part One)
Write him a letter. Tell him how you feel, Dr. Nolan said during one of their weekly sessions. You don’t have to mail it. We’ll deal with whether or not you should do that at a later date. Your assignment this week is…
